DARK SKIES - Support it
The SCRD and the District of Sechelt have been working at installing proper lights to maintain the "Dark Skies" desirably atmosphere. To some extent is one step forward and two back as wonderful efforts in one place are undone by failures in another.
The lighting on the new Aquatic Centre is a case in point but it is not alone. There is also the Credit Union and the new car wash to consider.
Below are some letters written by Brian Lucas which gives some of the background to his efforts.
Unfortunately, the 'powers-that-be seem to feel only one person is interest, Brain Lucas, whereas we know that literally thousands of residents want to encourage Dark Skies for aesthetic, and environmental reason. Even more so as global warming is upon us.
PLEASE WRITE A SHORT LETTER or EVEN AN EMAIL to the District of Sechelt and the SCRD expressing your wishes and therefore show that Brian is not alone.
